© James Adams, 2001.  The specimen on the left is the form found throughout much of northern and middle Georgia;  compare this species (note dark line across hindwing) with the Monarch (Danaus plexippus).  The specimen on the right is the dark subspecies floridensis (the Florida Viceroy)  that can be found in the very southern parts of the state of GA; compare with the Queen (Danaus gilippus).
