Specimens can vary all the way from virtually no white on the forewings to appreciable white on the forewings.  The large white spot is supposed to be diagnostic, but clearly is not.  More diagnostic is the larger size and brown ground color compared to the other species of Homochlodes.  © James Adams, 2002.
